About the course
In July 2019, it was announced that Adare Manor would host the Ryder Cup in 2026, however the COVID-19 epidemic caused the Ryder Cup event at Whistling Straits in 2020 to be postponed by a year. This means that Adare Manor will host the tournament in 2027.
Adare Manor is set in over 800 acres of beautiful formal gardens and parks. Built in the 18th century and situated along the River Maigue, the mansion is an architectural masterpiece with towers, turrets and other highlights. It was the ancestral seat of the Counts of Dunraven. It is now an extravagant, high-end hotel.
The first Adare course opened for play in 1995. It was designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr. It was Trent Jones’ iconic course with a length of 7,453 yards from the back tees and just under 5,082 yards starting from the front tees. The course was a perfect example of Trent Jones’ style features, including trefoil-shaped bunkers and American-style hills and plenty of water. The result was incredibly difficult and enjoyable, but also quite reliable despite the myriad natural features and hazards, such as the beautiful trees and the Maigue River that meanders effortlessly through the course.
