About the course
Aside from Pebble Beach, there are few world-class courses that are able to offer the expanse of beach and water frontage that we have in abundance at Dumbarnie Links. Of the 34,000 golf courses currently being played around the world, only 246 of them are authentic Links courses. Of these, only about 40 are internationally recognized 5-star links, yet over thirty of them appear in the Top 100 World Golf Courses. The most famous is the Old Course at St Andrews on the Fife coast, on the east coast of Scotland.
The aim of our partnership is to create a first class prestigious golf course with a daily fee at a real links venue that is just minutes from St Andrews, the ‘home of golf’. This rare piece of land is a mile and a half from the sea with panoramic views of the Firth of Forth.
Dumbarnie Links may at first glance look like the style of the classic links courses where The Open Championship has been played since 1860. However, the extensive 345-acre site at Dumbarnie is particularly special. Its twin elevations, which are linked by a continuous escarpment, have provided the opportunity to create a series of elevated tees where holes play directly towards panoramic views of the vast Firth of Forth. Another outstanding feature is that many of the tees and greens are in close proximity to the water. In fact, fourteen holes have views of the bay and Firth of Forth.
The design includes three potentially drivable Par-4s and features several holes that evoke “risk and reward”. This course is designed to inspire rather than intimidate golfers. The total yardage of the golf course ranges from 5,300 to 6,900 yards. However, there is a special set of professional tees positioned so that should there ever be a future event at Dumbarnie, there are 12 additional tees, with the course potentially measuring up to 7,600 yards.
