About the course
Portmarnock is the ancestral home of the famous Jameson family. The Jamesons once had a nine-hole golf course here and the land is now part of the Jameson Golf Links at Portmarnock Resort.
This links was designed by Bernhard Langer together with landscape architect Stan Eby and play began here in 1996. The course is adjacent to its famous neighbour, Portmarnock Golf Club, but the two courses are owned and managed separately.
For a new course, Links is very unassuming. There is nothing flashy about its design, the natural Links terrain is used simply and effectively. The first eight holes are played on gently undulating terrain defined by varied grass areas and potted bunkers. Around the bend, a cluster of chequered sand dunes then appear, providing a much more distinctive aspect.
