Carnoustie Burnside Course

About the course

The Burnside course oozes character and from the back tees is a great test of golf.

Many of the short holes could grace the best links courses in the area, especially the 5th and 14th holes present a dramatic challenge for players trying to get their par 3.

The end of the course is also strong, with the 17th hole being one of the toughest par fours to be found in golf, and more than one score ruined by the out-of-bounds fence on the 18th hole.

It was on this course in 1953 that the great Ben Hogan played 70 shots to qualify for the Open Championship, which he subsequently won.
