Dundonald Links

About the course

When it comes to golf in Scotland, Dundonald Links has quickly become a “must play”. Located in the heart of Ayrshire, our par 72 course offers classic links golf for everyone to enjoy. Generous fairways, undulating greens and a wide choice of tees make it an enjoyable test for everyone.

Dundonald Links was first designed by 1883 Open winner Willie Fernie and opened in 1911. At 6,700 yards, it was one of the longest golf courses of its time. After two world wars the course was almost unrecognisable.

In early 2003, Dundonald Links was purchased by Loch Lomond Golf Club to offer a traditional links course to its worldwide membership. They brought in Californian architect Kyle Phillips, who had recently built the Kingsbarns course, to create a championship links course right on the Ayrshire coast.

Thanks to the stunning coastal land Kyle Phillips saw an opportunity to create the perfect modern links layout. Dundonald Links has everything you would expect from a world class modern links course, it has beautiful undulations, deep rough, a generous helping of gorse bushes and unlike many traditional links courses there are areas of the course that are framed by beautiful pine trees.
