About the course
The course was designed by Old Tom Morris in 1891 and later modified by Harry Colt. It is considered to be one of the strangest ever due to the unusual layout of the holes. The front 9 holes there and the back 9 holes form two symmetrical circles. Among professional players it is one of the best courses in the world because of its design. The course is famous for the fact that players must show the utmost precision and wit with every stroke. Muirfield is a flat course with a truly diverse environment. Fantastic sea views alternate with deep bunkers and dense vegetation. The greens are known for their not-so-large size, so a perfect feel is required. Muirfield is the most common place for world class golf in many categories.
