About the course
The New Course is located right in the heart of St Andrews golf. The name might give the impression that this is a new course, but appearances are deceiving. The New Course dates back to 1895 and was designed by the famous architect Old Tom Morris. The course has one drawback and that is that it is overshadowed by the famous Old Course. Although the New Course bears a lot of similarities to the Old Course, it is an absolutely phenomenal piece of golf. The course is typical of the St Andrews area. It is mainly characterised by its many natural obstacles, shared playing area with split greens and a number of bunkers. The layout is classically laid out with 9 holes outwards and 9 holes backwards. The more demanding golfers will find it challenging, but it is a challenge for pretty much everyone. Some holes replicate the famous Old Course, so the historic atmosphere is up for grabs at every turn.
