About the course

Five-time British Open winner Peter Thomson is behind the design of The Dukes. The course is situated on higher ground 5km from St Andrews and offers a variety of sea and town views. The weather at The Dukes is not as changeable as in coastal areas and the wind is more forgiving to players. Characteristic of The Dukes is the bushland habitat combined with more parkland and sandy terrain. There are no water channels, but dangerous bunkers are widely scattered. The course is designed for advanced players but is a challenge for any player with the highest ambitions. The Dukes is a flexible course and offers a truly powerful playing experience. It’s worth noting that the course includes Scotland’s most luxurious hotel, the Old Course Hotel.
