About the course
The founders of the course are Sam Torrance and Gene Sarazen, who built the course in 2001 and later renovated it in 2008 to provide better drainage. The course is built on top of a cliff and offers incredible views over the bay to St Andrews and Carnoustie. Torrance is a championship course and is the venue for the Open Championship Qualifier and has also been host to the Scottish Senior Open Championship. The course construction is typically Scottish. It features rugged terrain with dangerous bunkers, sand dunes and tall vegetation. The perfectly manicured double greens guarantee a first-class golfing experience. As the course is the venue for many competitions, it is therefore more suited to more experienced golfers. Torrance, together with Kittocks, is part of the five-star Fairmont resort.
