About the course
Elie was founded in 1875 by architects Old Tom Harris and James Braid. Elie is approximately 17 km from St Andrews. The course is a true kingdom of Scottish golf and is considered by many leading golfers to be one of the most beautiful ever. There is a sense of history here at every moment and is sure to be a great challenge for all golf enthusiasts. The architecture is typical of Scottish courses and resembles the famous Old Course. The treat is that when you close two holes you are back in town. A very impressive historical attraction dating back to 1966 is the installation of a submarine periscope to allow play to commence when the green is clear.
