What is the Ballot system for Old Course?
The Ballot system allows players to register 48 hours before the intended date of play. Players must provide their names, home club and handicap online, by phone or in person at a clubhouse by 2:00 p.m., two days before the scheduled game. A minimum of two players may enter the draw.
Can an individual player sign up for Ballot?
No, a minimum of two players are required to participate in the Ballot system. However, as of March 12, 2024, a new single player process called the Singles Daily Draw has been introduced. This process allows single golfers to play the Old Course in the following manner:
- Players must register in person between 9am-5pm at the Old Pavilion or St Andrews Links Clubhouse the day before the scheduled game.
- A random draw will take place at 5pm and players will be notified by text message and email if they have been allocated a playing time for the following day.
